A New Chapter in One of Louisville’s Most Storied Neighborhoods
The Eclipse in Russell offers more than just apartment homes; it’s a place where opportunity, community and history meet. Located in the heart of Russell, a neighborhood once called “Louisville’s Harlem” for its vibrant Black-owned businesses and rich cultural legacy, The Eclipse stands as a symbol of progress by honoring the past while building toward a brighter future.
Our ideal location near downtown Louisville puts you at the center of it all: close to retail shops, schools, public transportation and vibrant community spaces. Bike-friendly streets and nearby trails make commuting and exploring easy and enjoyable. Education is also within reach. The Eclipse is surrounded by local schools and higher education opportunities.
Just steps from The Eclipse in Russell lies Elliott Park, once known as Eclipse Park, the very place that inspired our name. This historic green space first opened in the late 19th century and served as the home field for Louisville’s Major League Baseball team, the Colonels, until a fire in 1892. Over a century later, LDG Development reaffirmed its commitment to Russell’s future by donating $100,000 toward the park’s improvement, aiding in renovations, including an updated playground, walking paths, picnic areas and a restored field house. Today, Elliott Park stands as a revitalized community hub, bridging a storied past and promising present, much like The Eclipse itself.
Beyond Elliott Park, The Eclipse is surrounded by a rich network of neighborhood assets:
- The Goodwill Opportunity Campus: An all-inclusive life enrichment center that offers drop-in childcare, legal services, a technology center, trade training and more.
- Norton West Louisville Hospital: Delivering healthcare and employment to the neighborhood.
- Norton Sports & Learning Center: A facility where you can enjoy a bowling alley, indoor track and interactive rock-climbing wall.
As a LOU 2.2 community, The Eclipse is more than housing; it’s a hub for wraparound services aimed at improving resident health, education and economic mobility. With onsite programs like after-school activities, community-building events and a resident food pantry, you’ll find support for every stage of life.
This transformation is part of a larger movement: the Choice Neighborhood Initiative, which has brought more than half a billion dollars in investment to Russell. This unprecedented public-private effort is fueling neighborhood revitalization, expanding opportunity and helping ensure long-term resident success.
We’re proud to be part of the Russell neighborhood’s continued revitalization, investing in the people and the places that have made this community resilient, creative and strong for generations.
